Frequently Asked Questions
Cold-water immersion has surged in recognition in recent years, heavily popularised by influential figures like Wim Hof, Andrew Huberman, Gabby Reece and Laird Hamilton to name but a few.
Despite the recent trend, cold water immersion has been used by athletes across most disciplines for decades to reduce soreness, inflammation and boost recovery. Today, it's embraced by people from all walks of life for its benefits beyond sports, such as improved mood, better sleep, increased energy, stress resilience, and an ability to strengthen self discipline and general resolve to hard and difficult tasks.
Further more, many have adopted cold-water immersion as a medium of meditation and self discovery, utilizing it as a practice to establish a deeper self-connection that arises from the challenge and inner stillness brought about by cold exposure.
We provide an insulated, rugged & durable plug and play cold plunge that is always cold, always clean at a highly competitive price.
Modular in design and built with the same top-tier components found in pricier brands, our Koda Plunge boasts a durable roto-mould construction, secure/ latchable lid for after use and at home safety. The hard sided walls are all pressure injected with up to two inches of polyurethane foam providing without doubt the best insulated plunge in the market which has two key benefits.
Firstly, it prevents condensation from accumulating on the plunge's exterior, making it suitable for indoor setup and the foam’s thermal properties reduce the chiller's workload by maintaining colder water for longer resulting in a plunge that is cheaper to run.
Internal Plunge Dimensions 110cm Length x 62cm Wide x 61cm Height
External Plunge Dimensions 138cm Length x 79cm Wide x 81cm Height
Weight: 42kg (Empty) | 420kg (Full)
Fill Capacity: 380 litres approx.
For the majority of people yes, we recommend heights up to 6’7- this will allow full immersion up to the chin.
Our ¼ horsepower unit can cool the water to 3°C under optimal conditions (indoors or outdoors, provided it’s sheltered from direct sunlight and or rain). It cools at a rate of 2-4°C per hour upon initial setup and is suitable for 3-4 users per day.
Condensation naturally occurs when humid air meets cold surfaces. Thanks to the two inches of pressure injected insulation built into each plunge, the exterior of the tub is resistant to the sweating build-up that affects many other plunges thus preventing puddling and water accumulation around your tub.
Additionally, we insulate all quick connect plumbing pipes however you may still notice somecondensation on the waterlines and fittings—this is completely normal.
The plunge temperature is controlled via the easy to use digital display and three button control panel on the chiller. It provides cooling to your plunge down to as low as 3°C.
Thanks to its outstanding insulation, each Koda Plunge is incredibly energy efficient makingit extremely cost effective to operate.
During the Summer month of January, our Koda Plunge recorded 115 kWh of energy usage total for the 31 days.
As of August 2024, the national cost per kWh in Australia varies between 20-35 cents plusdaily access fees charged by energy providers between 93-107 cents. If we average out both these data points; a kWh on average is charged at 27 cents and access fees at $1 per day making the average cost to operate your plunge for the month at $39.37 or just $1.27 per day.
Prior to the arrival of your plunge you will receive a ‘Set-Up Guide’ that outlines how to put everything together. Once unboxed and in location, set up should only take 20-30 minutes for somebody with minimal DIY ability.
No specialist skills or tradesman required; just a screwdriver and or drill.

The Koda Plunge is designed to be versatile and suitable for placement indoors or outdoors. For those wanting to place outside it’s important to note that our chillersare not waterproof. Therefore, if your plunge is set up outdoors, it will need to be protected from full exposure to rain and direct sunlight.
This will vary based on the set up location (indoors vs outdoors), climate season (Summer vs Winter), humidity, etc. With all these variables you can expect your cold plunge to cool at a rate of 2-4 degrees per hour.
All our chillers have an easy to use digital display and control panel consisting of three buttons; Up, Down & Set. Upon turning on, simply toggle down to your desired temperature and press the SET button.
Once the SET temperature is reached the chiller will automatically shut off; it will only turn on again to cool when the water temperature within the plunge increases by 1-degree beyond the SET temperature.
The chiller is plumbed into the tub via easy to install quick connect fittings and mounts. The cool water continuously circulates from your plunge through to a filter and into your chiller where the water is cooled and returned back into the plunge.
You will be able to easily adjust your chiller to as low as 3°C. The chiller will continue to cool until your set temperature is reached after which the chiller will automatically cease cooling and operation.
All chillers have a temperature sensor within the casing that always monitors the water temperature; once the temperature increases by 1 degree from the set temperature the chiller will automatically turn on again to cool the water back to the required temperature.
We have tested both and found you can run your Koda Plunge either way. Outlined below is what we recommend if you prefer not to leave your plunge running 24/7.
- Get yourself a good quality timer and plug it in at the wall socket (not the electrical box socket). Set your timer for two blocks of 3-hours operating time (running 6-hours per day total) this will be enough to adequately cool and filter your water.
- Depending on your plunge routine; make sure you set one of the 3-hour running periods in the lead up to your immersion so that you are entering your plunge at your desired temp.
- For those that have purchased the Ozone Sanitisation system, you will want to make sure you have your Ozone timer (30-60-minutes) set to coincide with one of the two plunge operating time slots. You want the ozone generator being injected into your plunge whilst the water is circulating. You don’t want to have ozone running into a static/ non circulating plunge.
- For those that have purchased the Water Maintenance Kit, your process and dosage recommendations remain the same. As per above, make sure the dosages are being added whilst the water is circulating.
Please see an example below of how you might set your timer in a 24-hour window.
Plunging Daily | 06:00am
Timer On... 04:00am – 07:00am
Timer Off... 07:00am – 04:00pm
Timer On... 04:00pm – 07:00pm (Ozone Timer 05:00pm – 06:00pm)
Timer Off... 07:00pm – 04:00am
If you live in freezing or a near freezing climate we do not recommend you operate your plunge on a timer.
During Summer Seasons and for those living in hot climates, you may have to increase your run time during these periods.
Please contact us directly if you need to discuss these variations further.
It depends on several factors such as plunge frequency, number of people using the plunge and whether or not you follow a regular pre-plunge hygiene routine. That said, a filter change can vary every week, every two weeks or once a month. We recommend replacing the filter at least once monthly. Do not rinse and reuse filters- always replace with them with a new one.
We insulate all quick connect plumbing pipes though you may still notice some condensation on the waterlines and fittings- this is completely normal.

There are two key aspects to maintaining clean & clear water: filtration and sanitation. For filtration, it’s important to keep your filter cartridges in good condition to avoid blockages that can stifle and slow the water flow. Depending on usage, you should typically be replacing your filter cartridge every 2 to 4 weeks.
For sanitation we have one of two options available which can be purchased initially or at a later time under our 'Accessories' tab on the navigation bar. These options are;
- Our Water Maintenance Kit; a system that requires weekly monitoring and adherence to our recommended sanitation dosage guidelines (click here to view). This system is chlorine and bromine free but does require the user to administer products to their plunge weekly.
- Ozone Sanitisation; a plug-in system that runs on a daily timer between 30-60minutes. Ozone is a powerful, chemical free oxidizing agent that when dissolved in water eliminates bacteria, viruses, and cysts from your plunge.
To maintain and care for your cold plunge we recommend the following:
- Change the filter cartridge: Depending on usage, replace the cartridge every 1-4weeks (avoid exceeding 4 weeks) If water flow slows or stops, or if the pump becomes louder (humming sound), it’s time to change the filter.
- Clean the chiller screens: For outdoor plunges, clean the screens monthly. For indoor plunges, clean them every 1-2 months.
- Change the water every 3 months: If you enter the plunge clean and follow the recommended Water Maintenance or Ozone Sanitation protocol, the water should stay clean for up to 3 months.
To change your filter cartridge you will need to drain a small amount of water from your cold plunge to a level just below the top return port. Once you have you done this, using the filter spanner provided- carefully unscrew the blue collar in an anti-clockwise direction to loosen and remove the outer casing.
Remove the outer casing and swap out the old cartridge for a new one and reinstatethe filter body and refill your plunge to your normal fill level.
You can purchase filters and other cold plunge accessories via the ‘Accessories’ tab.
Here are the summarized guidelines for cleaning and maintaining the chiller system, also detailed on pages 11 and 12 of the Chiller Instruction Manual included with your Koda Plunge. We recommend performing these steps every 4-8 weeks:
- Internal Component Cleaning: Do not use soap, detergents, or water to clean theinternal parts. Only clean the external housing.
- Disconnect from Power: Unplug the chiller before cleaning to prevent electrical hazards.
- Clean the Chiller Housing: Use a damp cloth or moist towel to gently wipe down the exterior surfaces.
- Clean the Air Filters: Regularly clean the front and side air filter panels to maintain efficiency. Follow these steps:
- Locate the two air filter panels using the user manual.
- Unscrew and remove the front and side panels as instructed.
- Brush off dust or debris, use a vacuum on low, or rinse the filters with water (ensure they are completely dry before reinstallation).
- Once clean, securely reinsert the filters into their respective slots.
Each Koda Plunge is equipped with a 2-inch drain point located on the lower side wallof the tub with a 18mm hose fitting.
To drain, simply attach a hose to the fitting, position the hose where you want to direct the water run off and open the valve.
Here are some basic guidelines we suggest when using the plunge:
- Rinse off with fresh water: Before getting into your plunge, it's recommended to rinse off with fresh water to remove any dirt or impurities from your body. Heavy particulates like dirt and sand can accumulate in the base of the tub if you are consistently entering your plunge dirty.
- Mat for foot wiping: If rinsing off prior to your plunge isn’t your thing, simply place a mat in front of your plunge to wipe your feet free of any debris before entering.
- Weekly wall cleaning: Use a non-abrasive pad or sponge to wipe down the walls of the plunge on a weekly basis. This helps remove any build-up or residue that may accumulate over time.
- Water hose filter: When adding water/ changing the water in your plunge, it's advisable to use a water hose filter. This helps filter out any impurities that may be present in your mains water supply.
By following these recommendations and changing the filters as needed, your water can remain clean for up to 3 months.
Our base ‘Filtration Only’ setup is a complete all in one entry level system where your plunge water is circulated and cleaned exclusively through a sediment filter cartridge which is changed regularly. These filters are great for removing larger particles from your plunge such as hair, skin cells and other debri however they do not sanitise or purify your water free from microscopic contaminants.
Sanitisation products are responsible for breaking down and eliminating these unwanted contaminants, viruses and bacteria from your plunge to leave you with safe, clear and clean water each time you plunge. Examples of such sanitisers includes ozone generators, UV lamps, chlorine and non-chlorine chemical based water maintenance kits, etc.
If you do opt for the 'Filer Only' option, you will need to add your own santisation system to your setup; we provide two options which can be purchased initially or at a later time via the 'Accessories' tab on the navigation bar. Continue to read on to learn about our other purchase options.
Our ‘Filtration + Water Maintenance Kit’ option includes the same filtration system described above however it also includes a chlorine and bromine free water treatment kit that you add to your cold plunge weekly for sanitising and purifying your plunge water.
Our Water Maintenance Kit is a stronger and cheaper cleaning agent than that of ozone making it well suited to high frequency plungers and or those that do not follow any pre-plunge hygiene routine. Note that this option does require weekly testing and adding the products to your plunge versus our Ozone option which simply runs on a timer making it more passive after set-up.
This option is recommended for both indoor and outdoor setups.
Ozone is an excellent chemical-free solution for keeping your plunge water contaminant free and clean. Delivered directly into your water via an air pump that operates on a daily timer, ozone is a powerful sanitiser that breaks down and eliminates unwanted viruses and bacteria from your plunge leaving you with clear, clean water every time.
Our ‘Filtration + Ozone Sanitisation’ option includes the same filtration system described previously coupled with a JED303 Ozone Generator and timer.
The system attaches to the back of your cold plunge tub and releases ozone into the water daily via an air pump. The generator operates on a timer, providing a convenient, hands-off maintenance option for your plunge.
Recommended run time of Ozone into your plunge is 30-60 minutes per day during a time when no one will be using the cold plunge (allow a minimum 60 minutes following injection where the plunge is not used) this allows adequate time for the ozone to dissolve.
We recommend this Ozone option for outdoor setups and or those in well-ventilated spaces.
Yes… You can upgrade and purchase either a Water Maintenance Kit or Ozone Sanitisation system via the ‘Accessories’ tab at a later time for those that initially order the ‘Filtration Only’ Koda Plunge.
